Megan J. Kirschenbaum comes from a passionate background of cultural preservation. After finishing her M.A. in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management in 2012, she worked at Rick Wester Fine Art for two years before working at the Museum of Arts and Design as an Exhibitions Registrar. In her free time, Megan explored working with private collectors, artists, and photographers in managing their private collections, negatives, and studio spaces. After personally helping galleries in Chelsea when Hurricane Sandy hit New York City a month after she moved to the city, she also participated in the New York chapter of Alliance for Response, a cultural heritage disaster preparedness and response team. She has worked with a variety of art collections spanning from paintings, to photographs, to prints, to design objects throughout the East Coast, but recently moved back to the Pacific Northwest where she is looking into ways to work with a new community. Megan currently works as a Collections Registrar for a private art print collection in Portland, OR.

“Megan Kirschenbaum worked with me at the Museum of Arts and Design from 2015 - 2017 and was a vital member of the team whose presence is missed to this day. She’s a consummate registrar with great organizational skills, solid overall knowledge spanning registration, collections management, and object care. Megan has a genuine love for photography and photographic care. Her passion comes through in all that she does.”

—Ellen Holdorf, Director of Collections Management at the Museum of Arts and Design

“When Hurricane Sandy hit New York, it created widespread devastation. For the art world, it meant a great need for qualified individuals to help in the clean up and handling of damaged and at-risk artworks. It was a blessing in disguise for us because it connected Megan to New York and for the next two years she was my registrar. Megan proved to be a highly responsible member of our team, able to manage both short term demands and long term projects, working diligently and creatively within our field. She brought a keen knowledge of photography - it’s history and processes with an organizational skill that allowed me to work with clients and their collections more efficiently and effectively. After she left I had the opportunity to hire her on specific projects and did. Perhaps the best recommendation I can give is that I would happily enlist her services again."
